YURI PIMENOV

Moscow, New Tretyakov Gallery
September 08, 2021 - January 09, 2022
This was the first solo exhibition of the outstanding artist Yuri Pimenov in the Tretyakov Gallery. He was a Soviet painter, graphic artist, theatre and set designer and teacher. The exposition shows about 170 works: paintings and drawings, books, multimedia installations.

The exposition is divided into several parts reflecting the creative search of the artist. Each of them is limited by a pylon-curtain, which is abstract and follows the general logic of the shapes and the scale of the exhibition. The main exposition feature was the use of prisms that determine the geometry of the building. Such triangular pylons make it possible to divide the flow of visitors even in narrow halls and provide convenient navigation through the sections of the exposition.

The color scheme is inspired by the colour range of the author himself. There are only two key colors (not counting a light background), they can be found throughout the entire exhibition as bright accents, but at the same time they do not split up the space and maintain the scale.
