GENERATION XXI

The purpose of this large-scale exhibition, based on the gifts of Vladimir Smirnov and Konstantin Sorokin, is to present and analyse the main phenomena and ideas in Russian art of the last decade. The donated collection was selected jointly by specialists from the Vladimir Smirnov and Konstantin Sorokin Foundation and the Tretyakov Gallery. It includes paintings and drawings, photographs and videos, objects and installations by artists of different directions. The core of the collection is the works of young but already established authors who began their journey in the 2000s. Many of them have taken part in prestigious Russian and international exhibitions, worked with leading Russian and Western galleries and foundations.
