ARKHIP KUINDZHI

The exhibition allowed us to discover Kuindzhi's personality in a new way. The artist consciously used the latest discoveries of physics and chemistry in his works. Kuindzhi's innovation is associated not only with the formal aspects of painting, but also with that understanding of the unity of the world and the man, which was especially close to the next generation of artists of the early twentieth century. The courage of Kuindzhi's handling of colours and paint, which seemed daring to his contemporaries and often remained inexplicable, finds its continuation in the works of his students, including N. Roerich, A. Rylov, K. Bogaevsky, F. Ruschits, N. Krymov. Kuindzhi opened up rich prospects for the art of the future - symbolism, expressionism, primitivism, fauvism.
